L&L: A QUICK GUIDE FOR HELPING STUDENTS
February 12, 2014
12:30 - 1:20 pm
Location: W401 PBB

In October, the Office of the Dean of Students mailed a folder titled "Quick Guide for Helping Students" to faculty and staff members. The folders were created in collaboration with University Counseling Service and the College of Education under the Suicide Prevention Grant funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and U.S.  Department of Health and Human Services. This guide reflects our ongoing efforts to provide important information and resources to faculty and staff who provide daily support, assistance, and referrals to Iowa students. In this session, learn more about the "Quick Guide for Helping Students", the role of student assistance in the Office of the Dean of Students, and various resources available at Iowa.

L&L: SUPPORTING DIVERSE STUDENTS: A PROFESSIONAL PANEL

L&L: FOSTERING STUDENT SUCCESS THROUGH APPROPRIATE ACADEMIC ACCOMMODATIONS
April 24, 2014
12:30 - 1:20 pm
Location: IMU, Lucas Dodge Room

Student Disability Services is the office on campus that approves academic accommodations for students in all colleges except Law, Medicine, and Dentistry. In this session you will learn an overview of the accommodation process, the rights and responsibilities of both students and instructors, and descriptions for the most common accommodations. We will also discuss strategies for identifying students with disabilities who may not be aware of their condition.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact the Office of Retention at 319-335-1497.
