Countdown to College

Old capitol building at dusk

Welcome!

Welcome to the Hawkeye family! Starting college is an exciting time, but it can also feel a little bit overwhelming. Here at the University of Iowa, we want to help students feel as prepared as possible for their college career. That's where Countdown to College comes in!

Countdown to College is a brand-new program designed to support approximately 100 new first year students in their transition to the University of Iowa. During this two and 1/2 day program, participants are enrolled in a 1 credit hour seminar where they learn skills necessary for success in college and begin to build relationships with their new classmates. In addition, each student is part of a small group led by a peer mentor

RSVP for Countdown to College 2021 is now closed.
Countdown to College 2022 RSVP open date (tba) will be in summer 2022.

Please Note:
If you received an invitation to Countdown to College and do NOT want to attend, no further action is required and you do not need to notify us of this decision. However, if you complete the RSVP form we will assume you plan to attend and any changes in this decision MUST be communicated by email to angela-lamb@uiowa.edu. Students who RSVP but are not actively engaged in the program may be held responsible for early move-in fees and other expenses incurred. Students who plan to participate in Iowa Edge or Honors Primetime should NOT RSVP for Countdown to College as these programs are scheduled to occur at the same time.
